Last night when i got home from playing poker , i found one of my peppermint shrimp dragging Esmeralda(emerald crab) across the bed of sand. So I've done research and seen that they shed and to leave them alone but this didn't seem right. So I left it alone, but today when i woke up she was still on the upside down position just there, didn't react to me poking it and then its when i worried a tad bit. What could have caused this? I checked my water yesterday at the lfs and they said everything was perfect except salinity a tab bit low(did a 5 gallon water change so that might be it) but they said nothing to worry about. Think it was 22 and its supposed to be 24. Could this have been it or could something else be wrong in the tank. Btw I also found one of the Damsels 2 days ago with ich?(a white dot in the tail). But also researched the procedures to this and till now just waiting on it to get better. What do you guys think? I am taking educated advice and precautions to make sure nothing else in my tank goes bad. Only nice a n healthy over here please. Guys thanks ahead of time on ur opinions.

Not a bad post, we just don't have any idea since we're not in your house looking at what you're talking about LOL. My first guess would be it's a molt. Give it a couple of days & see if your crab reappears. Why do you think it's the dead body and not a molt?

You really should invest in a refractometer and test kits of your own. Every time people say they have the LFS test, the only answers they give are "everything is perfect" and that's not helpful to the tank owner. They need to be giving you numbers so that you can track any fluctuations in your tank.

Also, if you're doing your own water changes, you need to be able to test the salinity of your tank before you do the change, the water you're using to do the change, and your tank after you do the change. The low salinity might not be "anything to worry about" if it happens gradually, but it can be if it dropped drastically almost instantaneously because of the water change.

most likely it is a molt...

and you said about your salinity, did you mean 1.022? it should be 1.026... or if you are doing it by part per thousand then it should be 34-36 ppt.

yea the 1.022 one sorry, not used to this stuff yet. But um yea the last two numbers i posted were the salinity where it was at. Possible death for this? Or not that major to cause that.
