Some great advice all over this thread, and its to early in the game for you to throw the towel in

what you do need, is time out on the bench, a re think, a positive attitude and then its game on again

not adding anything new fish wise for 60 days is ideal IMO

these fish death strings , many people experience them, and you cant tell exactly what causes them everytime ( well if you where a marine biologist you have a chance)

often in cases like this one or 2 fish seem to be immune to whatever else is causing the death of the other fish ( possibly much the same ways as humans can carry infections that they never suffer any symptoms with, but leave the people they come into close contact with, feeling unwell)

not adding anymore fish for this period will hopefully see whatever the problem is clear up
and that subsequent introductions provided the fish is quarantined and introductions are not rushed , will probably not suffer the same fate as your previous fish

I have seen terms like "My tank is a fish death trap" or "I have a tank thats great for corals, but fish dont last long" very often

and in most of these cases, adding fish to replace lost fish almost immediately said fish have been lost, just worsens the problem

let it be for now, and look at it again at the end of February
then 1 fish every 2 weeks, gently re introduce fish to your aquarium

Velvet could kill fish that quickly.

You should also quarantine your fish before placing them in the display tank.

Beware of purple up, DarkHorseMBA. I've used it for a while without knowing that when combined with other ph buffers it would bring my alkalinity to deadly levels.

Have you taken an alkalinity reading? Keep an eye out for that.

If your shrooms are looking swell though... it's something else. My shrooms were looking very sad, discolored and kind of wrinkly with high alkalinity.

Just thught I'd throw that out there for you to check.
    Good luck!
