The filter cap fell off a pump and he got sucked up. Was only in there for maybe 10 minutes but still was too late :(

I had two clown fish and now the other one is alone...would I be able to get a new clown and would they get along? Just don't want him to be alone =/.

Sorry to hear about it. Could you tell us what kind of filter pump? All of us can learn from it.

How old or what size is the clown in your tank?

It was the pump part of the tetra whisper ex45 media filters. The bottom filter part isn't a very good connection and could fall off if not pushed on tightly. It probably fell off 3 or 4 times over the 4 months I've had it. The suction power is pretty low off it so I'm really surprised the clown got sucked up or willfully swam up? Either way, it's a stupid design and I'm only going to use it for my hospital now. The clown was almost 2 inches long, and has been in my tank for 6 months with his partner, so probably 8 - 11 months old. It's really frustrating that it happened, because literally 10 minutes before I was feeding him, he could not have been in there very long.

I'm moving in 3 weeks so the other clown would be fine if I bought it after I moved?

I dont really care for the tetra pumps. Id suggest an aqueon HOB filter They are very quiet, easy to maintain, I run a couple on my different tanks.

Sorry for your loss though! You can easily add another clown no problems. there may be some fighting but they will just establish whos going to be male and female, Id try to get a smaller clown then whats in the tank.

Well he was the smaller one of the two so that shouldn't be too hard. Yeah the whisper filters are actually really quiet too, and they provide some nice flow, but I guess you just need to be careful with that filter screen. :-/ I think what I'm going to do is cut a piece of foam and stick it up into the tube so that no fish will get sucked up there again even if the screen section falls off.

Hmmm before Adding anything Else, Why not take the filter out, use some superglue gel and glue it, let it cure for a few minutes and set it back up?
