Well, RIP, even though i only had it for a couple of days, it was definitely the coolest fish I've had.

The mantis got him, after not eating for four days after a molt, the fish was sleeping in the mantis's den and when he was done molting, well easy meal to say the least.

I just hate the fact that the mantis ate it, then everyone gets the wrong idea. It was just the fact that the mantis was hungry and the fish was sleeping.

Well, atleast my firefish knows better.

Once again that's a bummer. It would not surprise me if a see a similar thread by you here in the near future that says the same about your firefish. I would relocate if possible.

Sorry for your loss, bud. Mantis are known for eating sleepy fish. Bummer :(

Sorry for loss. At least to your credit as a mantis owner you didnt go into a rage over the killer mantis like alot of people do.

I dont even understand why some one would do that. Its nature, and I understand the risk of losing fish.

Actually I have seen posts from other people that keep fish with mantis with no problems. I dont know if I would keep any fish that hide in rocks though. Might be better off with fish that like to stay up in the water colum. JMO.

I was under the assumtion that the sixline would sleep in the sandbed. :-/ A fish that is in and out of the rocks during the day isn't a problem.

That is why i have the firefish though, he never goes into the rock, except at night, and thats almost at the top of my tank.
