added my JBJ light to my HOB fuge (modded an AC70). First off, let me say that i had my chaeto in there for a few days bc i was waiting for my light, but as soon as i put it on last night and woke up the next day, litterally HALF of the macro algae in the tank was gone! adding that light was litterally like flipping a switch. it was crazy.

got this one: JBJ Macro-Glo Adjustable Refugium Light

anyways, my thread is not a review but a question... how do i keep so much light from creeping into the tank over night. i have the fuge light on a timer to run after the lights go out in the tank, but it's still quite a bit of light. aside from adding the background to the glass, is there anything else anyone has tried? methods? mods? thanks!

Can you temporarily remove the HOB Fuge, and paint the back and sides of it with Black paint? Krylon Fusion works great, and it is safe.

ill have to look at how much room i have to work back there, but it's already about 6-7 inches from the wall. i may go with just the solid blue background taped to the back if i can't fit back there to get the paint on. thanks for the tip though!

any one had any luck with blocking the light which enters from above the tank rim?

A hood takes care of that problem.
