am I the only one who genuinely likes the look of having lots of rock and lots of sand on my tank?

seriously, lately i've seen pics of tanks that look bare compared to mine.

I guess that stems from my years of breeding African cichlids and my DT being overstocked. basically I had to have a cave for every one of my fish.

i'll attach a pic to show what I mean. there's a couple white pieces which I just added.
I have about 70lbs of rock and 80lbs of sand in a 55gal tank.

sorry the pic is blurry, but, u get the drift.

That really doesn't look excessive to me. I've seen pics of many that are nearly up to the surface. In fact, mine are nearly up to the surface. I do like the look of it being more like yours though. I think more rock and sand is better for bio filtration.

I know what you mean. Lots of folks seem to be going with bare bottom or very little sand and minimal rockscape. While some can make it look good, like you, I still prefer a bit more for my own tank. Yours looks great, btw. :)

Looks great. Lots of places to put corals for sure. And as stated, more biofiltration.

I think your tank could still have some more rock and be beautiful! I still have all of my original live rock I started the hobby with and still like the look of a lot of rock.
