i have had this for about a week but i have not added any live rock for 6 weeks anyways my tank is in my bedroom and i hear it about 15-20 times a night.

i got fish, two cleaner shrimp/one blood and corals and 3 anemones nothing eels

what could be causing this ?

it sounds like dropping a glass marble on the floor.

Sounds like maybe a Mantis shrimp or pistol shrimp to me, I've heard of mantis shrimp striking the glass of an aquarium before.

He says that he did not add any live rock, so I doubt that its a shrimp. Unless it came with the sand.

I'd would also say it's a mantis, especially since they like coming out at night to hunt. They don't, however, hit the glass of the aquarium on purpose, the noise comes from when they smack something with their claws.
