loud banging sound at night time ?

    i thought it was a mantis but i have some goby's and a basslet thats sleeps on the bottom and they are not hurt in anyway also i have a really small cleaner shrimp and he's still around.

    I don't know what's causing this

    Same thing here buddy. Tanks been up for nine months, all dry base rock accept for one piece. Been hearing a clicking sound in my tank every night. Never seen the thing come out. I have two cleaner shrimp for two months still ok. You would think they would be long gone if it were a mantis.

    Not if the mantis is small, which most of the time it is. If you look carefully in the tank early in the morning or late at night after the lights come off you might see it.

    Well im moving soon so all the rock and most of the water will have to come out of the tank and the sump will be taken down so if it is something live l will find it.

    if there is plenty of food in there for the mantis, it might not bother your livestock. As it gets larger and requires more food, things could change. they sell traps but all you will probably catch are your cleaner shrimps. :)
