I just set up my new 75g system this week. I am running an eheim 1260. I have searched and read a bunch about pump noise but run into a dead end. I am running braided flex tubing and put non braided flex under the pump. It's not touching anywhere but the bottom of the sump. But it is SO loud I can hear the pump vibration from every room in my house. This is unacceptable to me let alone my wife's opinion.

The pump was bought brand new. So, is there just a break in period that it needs to go through that will eliminate noise? Or is there maybe a better pad I could put it on??

honestly it sounds like maybe you got a bad pump? i don't have that brand i have a mag 1800 and i barely hear it while in the same room. what might help is get a rubber welcome door mat, a nice thick one, they are about 12.00 at home depot, and set it under your sump. they absorb the vibration voice that gets threw the bottom glass or acrylic of the sump.
inside my sump my mag sits on a gardening pad the type you kneel on. picked it up at the dollar store. i cut it to fit the size needed under the pump.

Thanks for the advice. It hope it's a simple fix like a bad pump. It's so loud my neighbor is istalling a patio and was running a backhoe and I didn't even hear it until i got outside.

It's running wide open there is no ball valve on it at all, and it's only pushing water about 4' or so with no elbows.

I will get a matt for under my sump but I can't go too thick as I need clearance to get my skimmer out if need be. Maybe those silicone baking sheets would work??
