Very nice- sometimes simple and smaller works out for the best! I'm a "converted reef spouse" also, I've basically taken over the tank and all its care, and I love every minute.

Thanks everony for the complaments. I'm looking for a nice leather chair to put next to the tank so I can just loose myself everyday. ;D

I have recently started a Solana 34 as well. Did you add any power heads for increased water movement? Also, the skimmer is adding bubbles to the water. Any problems for you in that regard?

I did add 2 pumps and am adding 1 more it's on order now. I started with 1 Koralia Nano and watched to see if this was good enough. I than added another Koralia #1 which helped the movement but I still needed more so I ordered 1 more Koralia #1. So now I have 1 Koralia nano and 2 Koralia #1's which should be plenty.

Now the return pump that that came with the system is very restrected. I removed the 2 slit nozzels from the return pipes and removed the flow rate control on the pump itself.

For some reason the manufactor was looking for water volicty over water quanity. And I use the HQI 150watt Light for the tank. The tank is deep so if you plan on doing coals you'll need the HQI..

For the fileter I used all the stock stuff. I removed the Micro Bio-balls fom the main pump and put live rock in it's place. I left the micro Bio-balls in the protien skimmer.

That's it the tank is pretty easy to deal with. I do 5 gal water changes every week.

Sweet tank... I just bought a Red Sea Max 34 gallon 'bout 5 days ago. I've only got 15 pounds of live rock and a few chromis! Best of luck!
