Hi I just added live rocks for the first time in my 55G tank. Rocks have green mushrooms and some coraline algae. I don't have any fancy lights but typical fluourecent lights.

    1) Are there any hard corals or polyps, preferably with some colors, I can grow with my current setup.

    2) How many hours a day should I keep the light on?

You need at least some PC's(power compacts) to be able to keep some corals. I'm assuming when you say reg. Flourecent bulbs, you mean those really cheap bulbs that you can buy at Home Depot for your shop light. Luna

Hey baby, whoa! I think. You have not said how long your tank has been up. This is important. You say you "just added rock for the first time", how was it before? No one can recommend anything until we know this info at the very least. Also what are all your parameters? Basic information should include; all water parameters Magnesium,Alkalinity,Ph and Nitrate and Phosphate levels) along with Temp. of your tank and Sg (specific gravity).Size of tank and complete set up meaning, filter type (sump, canister etc.), if you use a skimmer, lighting (what type and total output).
Give us this info and we can give a comprehensive answer and suggestions for you.

You wont be able to succesfully keep any corals with those lights. Maybe look into getting some T5's

Some gorgonians and chili and some sponges but.........I don't see a skimmer on your list. These corals I just listed have to be fed ALOT and that requires alot of skimming and other nutrient exportation.
