My aquarium has low lighting and the only piece of coral I have in there is a small frag of star polyps. I know they can live in low lighting but I was wondering if opening my blinds to the window will help the corals out a little more until I get my new light fixture? I only realized how low my lighting really was after I had already purchased the star polyps. My tank is litterally between 2 windows, so would opening the blinds and letting natural light hit the tank help the polyps? Should I allow a little sun in too or would that be too risky?

Depends on the type of windows you have. Some block 99.9% of all UVrays. Making having the blinds open useless. I would just buy a new light. Doesn't have to be the most amazing thing in the world, but a single t5ho fixture will do you better than your current plans.

How long before you get the fixture?

Not really, but do you really have another choice? Just try it.
