My tank is still cycling. Just started 2 weeks ago. I used to a instant cycle product and surprisingly it work. I also used some water, live sand and live rock from 75g tank I have set up. My ph is a little bit low not too much. I have noticed that the tank is surpringly doing well due an abundance of copepods and a new starfish I found last night. Do you think Brightwell's Alkalin8.3 product would be a good product to get it up to 8.3 and then work on my alkalty? Also it is going to be a reef tank, any does you can recommend for me to start to get all the chems right.

    Thanks

Your in the process of cycling, your ph doesnt really matter at this point. Worry about those things after your done cycling and ready to stock-up. I personally dont like rushing things, esp. with this hobby. Good luck.

totally agree, too early to worry about ph and alk. I know people that use chemicals with success but not around my tank. i like for everything to occur naturally. Rushing things in this hobby only leads to empty wallets. have patience and you'll have a wonderful tank to enjoy for a long time.

I actually come at this from a different point of view. What a better time to learn how to test well, how to dose and get things balanced. If you make a mistake, you're not going to kill anything.

Not to get off topic but, I think the live sand and rock form the other tank boosted your cycle, not the instant cycle stuff. Most of that stuff doesn't help. Also how low is your PH? What time of day did you check?

Mid Day and it was around 8.0.. not too low just enough where I'm wondering if the livestock that suddenly appeared is going to be ok or not.

8.0 is an acceptable range for PH.
