I have been having a problem with low PH. I was using the API test kit and having a hard time getting a reading is was sure about. I got a PH pen yesterday and did a 2 point calibration. My PH yesterday afternoon was 7.9, this AM it was 7.7. I have been reading up on how to raise PH by adding buffers. I have been adding the Kent 2 part and tried KW as well with little success. I added 2 air stones in my refugium 2 days ago.
    My readings are
    AM -0
    NR-0
    NT-50 ( long battle)
    Cal- 440
    KH - 10
Temp - 84 (I think I see some very small spots on 2 of my fish)
    SAL - 1.024
    Any ideas?

I have the same issue only when I close up the house & run the A/C. As soon as I turn it off & open the windows it comes back up to 8.2+ from 7.6-7 within an hour or so. No problems in the winter with the heat, just the A/C. Wierd but true :)

Thanks for that, I turned off the AC and put a fan by the front door blowing at the DT. Too hot here to do it for over an hour today. Tomorrow I will start earlier.

Just did a 10G water change to vacuum the gravel and rock for the ich concern.
    PH up .1 to 7.8.

PH levels will become lowered if aquarium water becomes higher with dissolved carbon dioxide. It may be as simple as opening up a window, increasing water flow at the water surface interface, removing covers/glass tops etc.
Water changes and dosing kalkwasser(which has a pH of roughly 12) will also help.

throw an air stone inside the sump. My ph does well as the sump is in the garage, so lots of fresh air.

    Thanks guys.
I have the lids off and the canopy open. 2 - 12" air stones in the sump, and a fan at the front door blowing at the tank right now. PH 2 hours ago was 7.9 with the lights off. Now that the lights are on it is 8.1.
After they are done feeding I will adjust my returns to break up the surface of the water more.

I have a refugium as well with several types of Macro.

Ph will change at different times of the day, ie in the morning and at the end of the day when your lights have been on constantly :)

Thanks again everyone, it seams to be a bit more stable today at 8.0. I also learned yesterday that adding KW lowers magnesium (no test kit) which slows the process of the refugium. I added some essential elements until I can get the the LFS for liquid mag. Low mag could be effecting my refugium and why my nitrates are going up as well.
