I have been steadily trying to lower my Mag. I have a triple doser from Bubble Magus. My mag was reading in the upper 1500s for quite a while. My Alk stayed steady at 11 and my calcium stayed around 450. For some reason i felt like my mag was a bit high. I went from doing 12ml of mag a day to 11ml a day. I tested a couple weeks later and my mag test really hadnt changed, so i decided to drop the dose down to 10ml a day about 10 days ago. Now i have noticed that my cal and alk have dropped a bit, but mag is still pretty much the same. Should i just go back to the way it was? Will this level out? I know it is a balancing act with these three ALK< CAL< MAG. Has anyone obtained levels similar to this?
    Mag 1575
    Cal 400
    Alk 11
If so, how do you feel about these levels? Are there any down sides to having a high mag, besides the use of more supplement? lol Will a higher mag level make it easier to achieve optimal alk and cal levels?
Dont want to fix something that isnt broken, you know:-/

My levels were like that for a long time. My mag is still around 1500, and cal is around 490. My alk is low only because I am running bio pellets and that stays around 7-7.4. There was no harm done. Maybe something is using your cal and alk.

Looks to me like there's no need for you to be dosing Mag at all. Were you having issues with low mag before you started dosing it? What salt are you using? sorry for the questions. I don't know your tank nor water volume :)

It takes a long time for Mg to fall naturally.

I'd just stop dosing until it was near what you wanted, then resume the daily dose. You're probably only dosing enough per day to maintain the level you desire.

I am using Red Sea Coral Pro Salt. Tank volume is about 50 gallons with sump but prolly only around 45 with rock displacment.
