i know nitrates are bad for a CuC but can they survive a few days as i slowly reduce the nitrates through water changes?
when i say high its 20-40ppm.
    everything else is fine tho

ik the nitrate are probably from salt that went bad, the CuC is due to arrive to today, and my nitrates were.

i have a eshopps psk-75 running also have a GFO reactor coming in 2morrow as well, ik those will also help lower it

20-40ppm isn't horrible, your CuC should be fine. Heck I've had mine in as much as 80ppm and they were fine.

Aragonite doesn't start buffering until the ph of the system gets below 7.0 or so. Putting the stuff in your fuge is pointless unless you are going to do it for another reason. How's your alk? Have you tested that? That needs to be kept up to buffer the ph. Also, lack of oxygen will lower your ph.

+1; a better bet for your fuge would be a ball of chaeto if possible. It will help lower your nitrates and suck up CO2/release oxygen which will help raise your pH.

your CUC will be fine with nitrates in that range..that is not high....I am the QUEEN (curtsy) of high nitrates and 20-40 is fine for inverts.....

My alk is 7 I think idk how to read the red sea test kit just yet.
Im assuming that as soon as the water changes color to red its done so in that case its 7 or is it a certain shade of red
I just put cheato in my fug, the light is a simple led light with 2 white 1 blue on it so it should be more than enoghe for that. Also have sea letuce in my fug to
My CuC seems to have adapted well and is moving around
Also im trying to raise my salt from 1.022 to 1.025 put that in another post already. I think Im just going to make all my wc 1.025 for now on or will this be to harsh

depends on how much water you are changing skyvern
if its between 5 and 20% then having the new water at 1.025, is a fine way to increase overall salinity slowly IME
as would be topping up with salt water in the mean time
raising the salinity by 1 point in any 24 hour period is generally considered to be OK, thus taking 3 days to get from 1.022 to 1.025 would also be fine
