I've given my trumpet 3 meals this week, including "Coral Smoothie", brine and pellets. I'll be using a 2 bulb fixture that's on its last leg for the next week or two as I await my new lighting. Should I continue this type of feeding through that time to make up for poor lighting?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Are you target feeding the coral?

Perhaps you can place a soda liter bottle cut in half over the LPS you are feeding, this way you can cut down on the amount of food you introduce to the tank while allowing the lps longer to consume the available food.

If you have any concerns as to over feeding you may want to test for nitrates and monitor that level, also look for the development of problem algae.

I would continue the feeding as you're currently doing, as long as you see no tissue regression or color loss.

I am a huge advocate of feeding my 180 gallon SPS/LPS reef. I target feed my LPS corals thawed and rinsed frozen mysis or New Era Marine Pellets 1x/week in the evenings when my main lights are off and the tentacles come out. I keep all my SPS corals well fed 2 times per week alternating with Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Phyton and TM Pro-Coral Zooton.
