Ok everyone, I'm still really new to this hobby. I have seen several different formations that people do with their Live Rock like stacked along the back glass of the aquarium, columns that form islands, and just a mound in the middle of the aquarium. I know there a lot of different styles and there is no right or wrong way of really doing things.

I have even seen some people form their rock in the aquarium and then put the sand in so that the rock can't fall to the bottom when fish dig underneath it (to prevent it from cracking the glass), and I've seen some people use PVC piping to stack their Live rock on (this is the method I plan on using).

What I was wondering is what is everyone's preferred method of placing Live Rock in thier aquariums. Feel free to show some pictures! ;D

Thanks in advance for everyone's input.

(The reason I am asking is because I am working on planning out a 40 gallon breeder build.)

    here's mine

Here is my 40 breeder. I have my rock pushed down in the sand and none of it is touching the back glass.

I prefer to keep off of the glass for flow, cleaning and retrieval purposes. I have my rock placed on PVC to allow water to flow around all of the rock and to hopefully prevent any spots for detritus to accumulate. I try to get the rock to be as topple proff as possible and to have caves and openings for interest for the fish and to allow goos flow through the tank.

I prefer the island with the rocks stacked with a more open aquascape in the middle and not touching the glass. If the tank is large enough i like the multiple island look which i don't have.

i used eggcrate to support the live rock so its not sitting on the glass. ive used it in every tank and seems to work since ive never had a problem!
alot of overhangs and holes for the fish to go through is what i look for when stacking the rock.
oh and def try to use all the depth of the tank to your advatage.

Ok, I have my 40 breeder set up now with my 20 pounds of live rock from my 16 gallon in it. I know that I will at least go up to 40 pounds of live rock and maybe even up to 80 pounds eventually.

My question is, what do you think the best scape is for have the maximum amount of room for coral growth of different kinds? I'm thinking of something like two island or maybe something like two arch's.

I love pictures, so please feel free to post!

I like it to look nice and support the fishes in my tanks lives. I will soon add a pair of ORA tiger gobies which like caves, overhangs, etc so thats what I did.
