mine retracts a little bit but does not fully retract unless the water starts hitting him so maybe since it was cold water some of it hit him and shocked him but i wouldn't be worried

yea my 2 year old daughter wanted to "help dad" and she pushed the box up so instead of my slow pour into the power head to disburse it i got a huge flow and im sure it hit it

i would say tomorrow he should be back to normal you did say he opened a little when you tried to feed him so thats probably a plus i wouldn't worry unless he is still retracted tomorrow

Pretty normal. I dont have a nem but most all my corals close up if a wc is done during the day. I try to do my wc at night (when lights are off) when the corals have mostly retracted in so they dont get as irritated. Probably doesn't help much but im sure its better for them even if only slightly.

i have a RBTA i noticed if i do my water changes on the side of the tank the nem is on it will close up just a lil but if i pour the water in the other side of the tank it seems to stay open and does just fine. i do my water changes with no light on in the tank because i take my canopy off. it may have just got some free floating stuff you kicked up and thought it was food... i wouldnt worry mine closes up all the time for a few hours then i come back to find it wide open with my clowns inside hosting it again.
