was wondering if anyone has had a lta split before and if so what should i watch for. I have 2 and one has trippled in size since i got it. it probably had 10-12 tenticles but now has like 20-30 all tenticles are nice n fat pinky finger size in thickness. its mouth was aprox 2 inches in diameter now probably close to 3 1/2. I know most have warned me and most have had sed no anemone's unless ur tank is 6 months to a year.. However i still have them . when the poo its seems normal no mucas no slime comeing out. little brownish black balls. color is dirty brown not black or dark brown just a light brown. the mouth is a light green assuming this is good.

I never got into the idea that the tank had to be a year or so old, They can make it in young tank's providing the light is up to their standard's and what they need to survive. There are a lot of wives tales in this hobby as in all hobbies. Alot of thing's in saltwater will show a split starting at the base or stalk or leg's or whatever you chose to call it. I believe the Anemones first sign will be two mouth's. I may be wrong but that is the way I remember it to be. The poo sound's normal. And the Anemone look's to be healthy. So I am sure there will be hundred's of post on this as every one seem's to be an Anemone expert....How long have you had him?...Stop feeding them so much...You can over feed them and cause them alot of problem's....lol trust me I am no expert I just have this weird love for Anemones...No I do not have one..No I do not want one...lol......Good luck....

ive had mine roughly 5 weeks, overfeeding naww dont think so i target feed once week maybe twice other then that they on their own. may catch food i throw in for the fish but other then that i dont feed too much. just like the bubble coral i target feed once a week unless it catches fish food. the lta has moved once inside the tank and since then it has remaind where he is. i havn't moved nor intend on it he is where he is. i cannot see the foot so i have no idea if its plitting there or not for it is burried under a rock. all i can say is since i have received my friend he has grown at least 3-4 times the size i got him.

Anemones will generally stretch out along the rock before they start to split. Their mouth will go into a long oval shape as well. Karensanemones has a good section on anemone splitting, as does Melev's reef. Feeding it multiple times a week is one way to induce a split from what I understand.

All i can say is its trippled in size its mouth is oval shaped instead of circular as my other one and as u can see by my pics there's to many tenticles to count.. i will post pictures later of the 2 i have and u can compare im looking for things i should b aware of things i would need to do if it indeed does split. im not trying to make it do so but would really be cool if it did. was wondering if anyone else had one split inside thier tank.
