The LTA we got yesterday was fine, no tears or anything. over night it moved itself into the live rock with the tentacles still out in the open.
    This was last night:

when i came home for lunch today, it was kind of pulled in but still sitting by the rocks all squished up. When I got home from work this evening, I moved it to the open because i noticed some white coming off the foot of it:

when I moved it again, could definitely see that it must of gotten torn. I'm guessing that sitting squished in the live rock and the clown beating on it caused it possibly? Not sure what to do, the color is still good, it's moving it's tentacles around. I put it in a petco bag (sister wanted to get some tetras for her tank - i'm using the 2nd outside bag, not the inside one that had the fish) and have it floating atop of the tank - we don't have a quarantine tank setup as my mother-in-law needed it since their tank ended up with a crack in it. Should I leave it in this floating bag? I know it's pretty much 50/50 at this point. i have not noticed the mouth gaping open, and it's not loosing any color yet either. Any ideas of what steps I should take next appreciated. Searching online is not bringing up anything that i can find yet.

hmmm when you moved it was it still attached to the rock... if so thats what caused it to tear. they are going to roam until they find there sweet spot/ if you have other corals in the tank you will end up moving those before you move it. as once it plants itself it will like it's spot. the foot is not all that hard to tear while tring to move it......

I would let it back in the tank to see what it will do most likely it will pass on to fish heaven but like you stated you have a 50 50 shot. sitting it in a bag will only stress it out more, and not getting the proper light and NO flow.

no it was not attached to anything.

i'm more worried of it passing away and releasing toxins into the tank - would hate for my fish to pass on as well because of it dying. it still felt really solid when i moved it into the bag and not gel like at all.

i do know if i put it back in the tank the clown will continue to beat up on it (this clown has some serious anemone issues)

I hate to lead you in the wrong direction and say keep in the tank and just keep an eye out on it for the next few days. thats what I would do. I always added my nems to the tank and waited for them to get where they want and then move my other corals. then I noticed what a pain in the but they are and added hair mushrooms for my clown. lets see if someone has better info. for you then me.

the anemone was still the same color this morning when I checked on it, it did stay in the bag overnight,... if it's still keeping it's color (going home for lunch in 10 minutes) should I just put it back in the tank with the fish and see if it can heal itself? I have not noticed the mouth gaping yet or anything coming from the mouth - only the foot pretty torn and stuff coming out of the foot. did send an email to wetwebmedia, and still cannot find any good answer on the 'net of what I should try to do. Really wishing I had my extra tank still...
