Off topic, but I am loving your pics and struggling taken decent ones myself (w/ Nikon D80). Can you provide camera, lens and setting info :)

Thanks Shin! That is one of my favorite, along with the green birds nest. Great minds think alike?

Cannon rebel, kit lens and the close ups I use a diopter set. As far as settings, you'll want a low ISO, like 200-400, and be in manual mode. After that, you need to fool around with the aperture and shutter speed to get the right balance. It really is a lot of trial and error (and practice!), and even then, each shot requires a different balance.

    Thanks for following! :)

Thanks Lucas! I will mess around again in the next day or two and see if I can get anything decent. I will have to pick up a diopter set as well :)

No problem. That diopter set was the best $10 bucks i've ever spent on photography!

Had a bit of a bacterial and diatom bloom today. Was expecting the diatoms anyday, and while they covered the sanded, after running the mp10 in nutrient transport mode for 3-4 hours, they receeded notably.

As for the bacterial bloom, the biopellets have been kicking in, and had slowed down in the reactor in the last few days. Today arrived home to a hazy tank with lots of bacteria strains. Changed filter sponge, stirring the sump, and cleaning the skimmer cup (plus the mp10) cleared up the tank in a few hours. I really wish I had taken a picture of the cup... talk about nog! :p

In other news, also gave the meteor shower an iodine dip to hopefully alleviate its STN from transportation.

That's all for now, just experimenting with lighting. Lower light corals on the edges, and the higher light corals are more towards the center.

Do you think you added the bio pellets too much and/or too fast, as far as the bacterial bloom goes? Are you dosing any bacteria additives (MB7 sort)?

Dont think so, I added ~100ml of pellets at birth, another ~100ml at 4 weeks, and another ~50 at 6 weeks. So a total of ~250ml for a system volume of about 40-45 gallons. Dosing MB7 on a weekly basis per instructions for a low nutrient system.

I do know that I increased the bioload in the tank rather rapidly... and so this was not a huge suprise to me. ::)

At anyrate, seemed to clear up a bunch last night, and I'll probably clean up a bit more tonight, maybe a waterchange as well...

Thanks for clarifying, Lucas. I think you might be right tho that you went a bit quick adding the bioload.

How are the corals doing? Showing awesome PEs?? How about the light period schedule?
