Good suggestion. I will detail the build further when I get a chance.

Thanks Travis. Ditto to you ;)

Sweet build, shallow tanks are awesome, and the dimensions sound amazing. So what are you going for as in corals? I think a kind of laggon setup would be cool, or maybe even minimal rockwork and a ton of plate corals. I will be building a similar tank some day.

    Progress pic tonight!

Thats a good question, one I have not completely decided on. I have a look in mind... very open, with a few "pillars" or islands. Not too much rock in the display, mostly in the sump. As to what type of coral, it will be mixed. Decent amount of SPS, perhaps a few less aggressive LPS (brains/acans), and rics/zoas.

And the build continues... The stand is skinned, doors are cut, and staining/painting begins tomorrow. More pic updates should find there way up here as tomorrow progresses...

Stopped by the local glass shop and ordered all the glass for tank and sump... yes, starphire it is!

Daddy's little helper (he says "for the fishies!"):

Stand skinned and ready for stain (Light canopy on the top). Also note the edges under the stand, to hold at bay the inevidible spilling of water... should hold a few gallons ::):

    Thanks for viewing!

Haha, he's been so sad since the 90 departed. He keeps looking around, throws his hands in the air, and says "where fishies go???". I tell him this is the fishies new home, and he's as excited as ever to help.

Did I mention he likes power tools?

    Happy Independance Day!!!

Logged about 12 hours today... cut and sanded doors, painted inside of stand and cabinet door backs, stained cabinet and doors, built equipment panel, and mounted equipment. Hmmm, doesnt sound like much, does it? :p

Stand stained and ready for poly. Anyone think it needs another coat? I'm leaning towards this is dark enough, it looks darker in person... Arrogant Ba$tard Ale to christen her!

    A mess of electronics!

Plus a few cuts here and a couple holes there (odd shape is to fit around sump):

    Equals "it looks so purdy!":

Thats all for today. Glass is on order, but the starphire is specialty, so that could take a week. Hinges for the doors are on order as well. Poly scheduled for later this week. Now to go enjoy that Arrogant Ba$tard! ;D

Looks really good man!! I think the stain is dark enough, I think when you poly it, it will make it darker as well. Well that's been my experience with it. Can't wait to see the tank!!
