Yeah ditto that!! I was thinking of going this route for my 30 gal., using strip LED lights, but I read some articles about how the photo output isn't strong enough.

In my 12G nano, I have 2 LED strips, all I got so far is algae growth lol.
All kidding aside, when I asked Marine Depot "will it promote coralline algae growth?" the guy answered "minimal at best." Of course those are $50 strips, not $3k fixtures.

Hello Admin, if the respond against the forum rule. Please kindly remove it.

Hi, this is Henry from Royal Aquarium. I know lots of people has been scared by PFO's price and lack of quality, but since PFO is no longer in the industry, so it's time to move on and reevaluate the LED fixture.
After PFO is gone, Royal Aquarium is the only one who provide total solution for the high power aquarium LED illumination. Currently there are 3 basic product line available to fullfill each user's requirement.
    1. EcoLight Series:
EcoLight series comes with 2 sub product lines EcoLight and EcoBlue. Both of two models are using ultra high grade 0.5w LED that being used for the outdoor monitor. The same one you saw from Vegas. We start making EcoLight series since year 2006 by using grade A 5mm LEDs, but later on we found out the 5mm LED efficiency is too low. More energy are being transfer to heat other than illumination. Not to mention the LED will be packed in to a seal tube that allow user to use it submersible (even you can’t feel the heat from the tube, but the center of the LED die will reach about 60~70C). Therefore after one year try out and one year research, we finally found the solution. The EcoLight V.2 come with total 17 0.5W LED (14 ultra bright white LED and 3 ultra bright blue LED) . The custom design control box allows user manually select Day/Night functions. EcoBlue are using 17 Blue LEDs and the controller can allow the user select View/Night mode.
Where to use: EcoLight is perfect for Nano Reef tank. The special design control box allow user add another 24" tube to double the brightness. It also can use as supplement light with user's current fixture to get the Shimmer effect. The EcoBlue View mode is for the user to see the vivid color of their corals. The super strong pure blue LED will shimmer your entire living room at night as well.ETA available in May

    2. Lumen Aqua Series:
Lumen Aqua Series comes with 2 sub product lines as well. Palette and Ocean.
Palette: Using 3W RGB LED and come with eTouch design that allow user to change temperature setting from 0~20,000K. This fixture is design for FOWLR/Reef and heavy planted fresh water aquarium. This fixture have been tested by FAMA/BlueZoo Radio reviewer David Lass and also being used by public company Originoil www.originoil.com is using the Lumen Aqua in their lab, same as University of Queensland's Postdoctoral Research Center and Dept. of Life Sciences at Bar-Ilan University in Israel. If PFO rated commercial grade, then we are Lab grade with about half of their price.
Ocean: This fixture is design for Reef and SPS aquarium in mind. It remove the color temperature adjustment feature, but use Osram White/Blue LED for maximum lighting output and again, we didn’t ask our customer to pay for the magazine advertisement fee like PFO. Available Now

    3.EcoBright:
I can’t really talk too much about this series. Due to our R/D team still work their ass off the get everything right. This fixture is design to outrun any current aquarium lighting fixture on the market. Including MH or HID. It will require special design thermal solution to ensure the best performance. The advance design controller will sync the build in lighting timing and build in wavemaker. Release date: Unknown. Hopefully in July.

Hopefully I answered most of the question. If anyone have further question, wellcome to PM or e-mail to info@roralaquarium.com.

Thanks for posting Henry. Your input is appreciated. I am of the opinion that LED is the way to go, but unfortunately, it is just too cost prohibitive for most of us. Perhaps later in life when the price comes down a bit, the LED fixtures will capture more of the market share. But for now, T5s and MH have got the clear advantage ITO affordability. Keep up the good work guys. That set up ya'll have created rocks.
