My 75g tank is not even full yet ... dang that RODI seems slow ... live rock will be here about 65 hours ... thinking, thinking, thinking ...

I have a 8x54W Tek Light T5 HO fixture, which looks to my untrained eye like a well made product, but I know I'm gonna want lunar lights. I'm a night owl anyway, and I'm gonna want to see what's going on in the tank at night.

Any lunar light mods, products, or DIY ideas you might have to share would be appreciated.

    Thanks!!

It depends how much viewing you really want.

Our 72 bowfront- we added the outdoor strip lighting (it's inside that plastic silicone tube). It ran across the front of the tank. It gave off enough to see what I wanted to see wasn't too bright for the fish. We had clear and had good visability.

Our new 120 tank we are adding the R2 Solutions moonlight, from Marine Depot. This way we can have dimming and moon cycles going on. It is a great light but not quite the visability of the clear. These are good and bright thoughand each one has 5 led's .

Hmmm, I like the sound of that. You're talking about "rope" lighting? I can see how that might work well, and maybe even fit right up under the plastic trim where it'd be invisible.

Okay, y'all are gonna like this. I took a couple of these Current lights:

I broke them open and took a look at their innards. Inside is a simple circuit board, with a power in, power out, a resistor, and the two LED's of course.

Using a soldering iron, I melted out the LED's and soldered some short pieces of wire into the holes vacated by the diodes. Then I soldered the LED's onto the other end of those wires. Using the connecting wires that came with the lights originally, I connected them all into a string.

I took apart my Tek light fixture, and drilled four little holes in the polished aluminum reflector. Poked the LED's through, and taped the whole mess in place:

    Lit them up ...

And installed the whole works back in the fixture.

Of course, my little PAS camera does it no justice. So you'll have to trust me, it's awesome!;D
