Here's a new tank that I'm building, to hopefully be set up and running by January 09'. The object of this tank is to house a single Octopus. If by any reason my project doesn't work out, I'm planning on converting it into a frag tank or just sell the whole set up, who knows. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
The DT tank is a 29g tank drilled on the back glass with two holes. The one on the left is a 1" drain and the other one to the right is a 3/4" return. This tank will be topped with a glass top to avoid the little escape artist to escape and become floor sushi. If you notice on the pics, I installed a suction drain cover to avoid the Octopus from escaping into the refugium and to surface skim the surface of the water. This will also allow the tank to breath as the water is flowing down the drain and into the refugium. The drain tube can also be lowered or raised by the riser tube, which will allow me to keep the water level where ever I want to keep it.

The refugium is also a 29g tank, modified to the skimmer and return pump's spec's. I still haven't finalized the "draining part" into the refug yet, but I'm working on it. I know that I will have some LR to stop some of the flow and break up any micro-bubbles that may occur. This refug is some what a knock-off from my 90g's refug. The stand is still a "working in progress" project. Anyways, enjoy the pics and any comments or suggestions are always welcomed. Luna

figured you'd have pics of the tanks at the pet shop, then at home pre-drilled, then a video of them being drilled, then before bulk-heads then after, then the plumbing be assembled, jeez

    :p

Make sure you find some way to lock that lid down, I would not rely on it's weight alone. Octo's are masters of escape.

LOL and this coming from the Photo Police! of course you'll be posting more soon.

EDIT: MAZILLA beat me on this, I got side tracked, GD work!

On another note, Have you figured out a way to anchor the top to the tank. I only ask because they are SMART and STRONG little buggers and if it can be moved they find a way.

I had one many years back, neat little thing. After about 6 weeks he figured out how to open the front of the glass top I had on the 20 gallon it was in and got out. The only thing that saved it is I walked in the room shortly after and spotted it crawling across the desk the tank was sitting on.

Picked it up and tossed him back in the tank and put a couple of book on the tank. I made a latch using some Velcro glued to the corners of the tank (all 4) and the top. Never got out again, had it for about 6 or 7 months.

Yeah, I know, this isnt my first Octopus so I know what they are capable of. "Very smart" is an understatement to say the least. I have some tricks up my sleeve. Luna
