No prob. I had a similar return on my 30 long. I used a check-valve - they are not all the same - I will dig up a link when I have more time.

I can't wait to see this set up I have three questions though. Are you going to have some kind of media chamber for carbon to remove any toxins or ink that might occur if the guy gets startled? I see you are going to use a refugium are octopus messy eaters? are you going to run a filter sock for mechanical filtration?

Yes, they are very messy eaters, thats why I got the refug tank the same size as the DT. Plus, I have a skimmer that is rated for 150g. There is plenty of room to place a carbon bag. Im planning on using a felt pad(which is the same thing as a filter sock) right before the last section in the refug tank. It will lay on top of a piece of eggcrate and some BB's. Luna

    Here are some Luna:

I like these because they have unions to make cleaning easier. I would put a ball-valve above it so you can disconnect safely. I also like these because I think they are the ones with a ball in them and not the springs I think (no metal). Your flow will be reduced a bit, but I didn't really notice that with mine and it beats a flood. ;)
