WOW LUNA! you remind me of some mad scientist..lmao great job so far, and when they ask for flavors I couldn't helped by thinking of Baskin Robbins 31 flavors more like pistachio, strawberry, and superman...sweet tank! and speaking of anti venom!? you got to be kidding?..lol get some kind of steel egg crate or something, it really sounds dangerous.

Pssh I say go for the Blue Ring and buy some antivenom. Do you know how awesome that thing would be to show off? Haha good stuff so far.

I don't really see why you want a specific color of octopus...considering most of them can change color :p

Anyways good luck! I'm tagging along.

    Tony,
Long time, no see. The octopus tank looks like a fun project.
Good job on the stand. That should be plenty sturdy. It looks just like the original stand I made of 2x4s for my 55, only yours is taller.
    Hope all is good.

I agree with you Luna. Although having a blue ringed would be cool, I would not be able to live with myself if something were to happen to my kids. Great choice on not going with the Blue ringed death. On a lighter note that tank is going to be neat, keep us posted on the pics.

A live octopus isn't exactly difficult to find these days. Asian sushi markets halfway across the globe would probably be willing to part with something after some persuasion, it's getting the species you actually want that's the harder part.

Adding an Octopus Species tank would just be fantastic in my mind. The ocean world is so much cooler than the world we live in hahaha. Just the idea of the only "hard" part in an octopus being a beak that closely resembles a parrot's is CRAZY :freak3:

Yes I have, but thats where the irony comes in to play. I've had the opportunity(twice) to hand collect an Octopus recently, but I wasnt in the market for one. Now that I'm looking for one, I wont be able to find one.

I was at work once, on a hanging scaffold under a bridge, and I brought up a fist size rock. As i was trying to get a hermit crab from one of the holes, a dime sized octopus came out instead. I brought it home and put it in a small container and tossed it inside my tank. The next thing I know, it got loose and I said ":furious2:". Dont ask me how, but I caught it again and threw it back in the ocean.

The second time was also at work, I was at break and started to turn over some rocks, looking for more Flame Scallops and I felt like something coming towards me. When I turned to see what it was, it was a soccer sized octopus "preying" on me. Right there on the shoreline, coming towards me. It was beautiful too, but too big even for the tank that Im setting up now. It was the funnist thing, he was going to eat me!

Is this because of the time of year. In San Diego we would collect them at low tide in tide pools or lagoons. Flipping over rocks.....
