Lyretail Anthias!

    Hey guys i really want a lyretail anthias but i was told that they needed to be in large groups in large tanks.. I only have room for 1 in a 66 gallon tank. I want a male anthias, any ideas? Could i do it? :) thanks

    They didnt have one at the store...:( thats the reason i wanted a male lyretail, it was in the store, but it wasnt in a group it was all happy by itself. Lol

    We had a single in a 60g for something like 8 years.

    I think 1 would be fine, but it depends on the other fish. The reason people say to have groups, is that the males are really, really aggressive. Keeping a group means that they will spread out their aggression so that it isn't all focused on one weaker fish. If you don't have other Anthias though, they may take out their aggression on whatever other fish you happen to have. Some may not tolerate it so well...

    Here is the list

    2 Occerellis Clownfish (1 B&W)
    1 Orange Stripe Prawn Goby
    1 Fairy Wrasse
    1 Chalk Bass
    1 Midas Blenny
    1 Large Engineer Goby
    1 Marine Betta
    1 OneSpot Foxface

    The only fish we have right now are the bass, 2 clowns, and the large engineer goby. We would proabbly get rid of the wrasse for that anthias...

    The Marine Betta may eat any fish that fits in its large mouth.:cry:

    Haha we heard that is a possability, but you never know until you try! We will try and get a small one, but you never know. We may not even get the betta, they dont seem to ship well

    His concern about the beta is legit. When everyone grows up, it could eat all except the fox face.

    i have a lyre tail and hes happy for over six years so i woud say ok on him he loves to eat so feed him seymore and he will grow:cheesy:
