So i've had this male anthias for almost 2 weeks. Upon placing him in my tank he would only eat the small frozen brine shrimp. He refused to eat formula one flake or frozen and the regular mysis that comes in the combo pack. He ate fine for 3 days like this then on last monday he came down with ich. I'm pretty certain it was from stress from the move into my tank. All my other fish are doing fine and eating fine.

Anyways since he came down with ich he has refused to eat anything. the lfs recommended PE mysis and I tried that with no help. The last couple of days it appears the ich is subsiding(i know about the cycle) and he looks like he wants to eat. Everytime I feed he charges the area like he's hungry but then just looks at it and wont eat. I am worried if this keeps up he's going to starve to death. He is already getting very thin.

Is there anything I can do to get him to eat without stressing him more?
tank perameters are-sg 1.026, No3 is little high at 10-20ppm(currently trying to get it lower with biopellet reactor installed 2.5 weeks ago). Alk-8to10dkh, ca 450 etc. This is a mixed reef tank that is only about 3months old.
    Thanks for any help/suggestions

unfortunately his is common with anthias :(

Try soaking food in garlic or selcon which can act as an appetite enhancer.

ive used chopped and crushed garlic as well. People thinks it boosts their immune system but I'm not sold. Made them eat for me though!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I would try any live foods as this point in time.

Anthias sometimes like their food to be moving in the water column.

baby brine shrimp, golden pearls, or frozen cyclopeeze. These closely mimic the foods they eat in the wild.

thanks all for the help and info. this morning I couldnt find him so not sure if he's still alive. he's a pretty good hider but he's normally out swimming in the middle of the tank. if he is really gone he'll be my 3rd fish to just vanish.

If he comes out again... put his food in a high flow area that will blow the food past him. This will sometims trigger a chasing response. My anthias have always enjoyed chasing their food.

well i tried the blender suggestion with pe mysis and he didn't appear to eat. also left pumps on so there was flow. I'm going to try the garlic and selcon, just need to find a store that sells it.
