well im moving to a new tank and i am going to replace 50 % of the sand and add more live rock so i need to get the little buggers out so i can put them in the temp. home
ive sifted most of the sand and if they are in the live rock thats cool i got them in a q tank as well

Depending on how long you've had them, they may have died, been eaten, etc. But yes, they are quite amazing at hiding in crevices in the rock.

I would agree and say they are probably hiding in the rocks

I had a dottyback just make it in my 90g while transferring LR from a holding tank just a few minutes ago. It was hiding in a crevice. It was a bugger to get him back out, because he is going back to the LFS. So look close.

They do reproduce. I had 15, that grew to 25 and they have all disappeared since. I only have empty shells now. They jump into bigger shells too. I watched one at night move from one to another, they are uuuuuugly outside of the shell.
