    MACNA COMES TO BOSTON

MACNA XVI will be held in Boston September 10th – 12th 2004, hosted by the Boston Reefers Society (BRS) in conjunction with the New England Aquarium (NEAQ). the BRS has many exciting activities and events planned. First off the welcome reception will be held aboard a mega yacht and will cruise Boston Harbor. The Gala Banquet Dinner will be held at the New England Aquarium in the main exhibition hall with a 220,000-gallon reef tank as the centerpiece. Speaking of NEAQ, new to MACNA for 2004 will be a conference within a conference. In conjunction with the BRS, NEAQ will host several sessions dedicated to public aquaria. In addition to the MACNA XVI hotel site, water taxis will shuttle attendees to the NEAQ dock for sessions in their meeting rooms.

Across the harbor the Hyatt Harborside Hotel is the perfect setting and mid-September the perfect time for what is certain to be a spectacular event. Right in the heart of Boston on Boston Harbor waterfront the Hyatt is close to Logan airport with stunning views of the city. Downtown Boston and the New England Aquarium are only a short water taxi ride.

Additionally new to MACNA will be the industry trade show component. BRS has engaged professional event, marketing and advertising firms to assist BRS in making sure there are plenty of buyers and merchandisers in attendance to support the anticipated 100 exhibitors. Exhibitors are encouraged to show their best and be ready to deal as distributors and retailers are coming to buy. To add further value to the exhibitor experience BRS will be holding industry seminars at MACNA XVI geared to the industry professional and the business at hand.

Staying true to MACNA's roots, BRS has commitments from the worlds leading authorities to speak in sessions. In fact there will be over 25 hobbyist sessions throughout the weekend. There is such a demand to present at Boston we have decided to hold several symposiums combining some great talent and setting the stage for some good debate. But wait there’s more. BRS will offer 4 hands on workshops at MACNA XVI. Imagine the sound of 20 Dremmels cutting frags, as the workshop is lead step by step through the process of propagating coral. That’s one of them. BRS will offer a well-stocked book and gift store. Book signings will take place throughout the conference.

This will be a MACNA like never before. Boston is an international gateway city with close proximity to several of the largest metropolitan cities and reef organizations. Boston’s Logan airport is two minutes away making it convenient for our many international guests. Presenting BRS MACNA XVI in conjunction with the New England Aquarium and hosting an industry trade show we anticipate attendance in the thousands.

BRS’s event and travel service company has many activities planned for non-hobbyists should you choose a family excursion or an extended stay in New England in the autumn. Discounted travel, accommodations, activities and events have all been arranged through BRS at MACNA XVI
