It should be noted that her health has improved substantially. Scott is a great guy and they donated a tank to a local Special Needs school. A LFS here in Des Moines donated the maintenance/upkeep. A lot of other MACNA sponsors donated livestock. This was a great thing that Scott did for these kids so when you're looking for frag plugs, decorative frag holders, and things of that nature, I hope 3Reefers remember to support his business.

Anothy Calfo's talk was very very good! I wish I hadn't had to miss the end but my son wanted me to come to the zoo with him and my wife.

Reefers Corner was additional learning seminars to the scheduled speakers. Good stuff to be had. :)

I've always been one that needs visual aid to understand stuff fully. I knew there was a reason I stayed away from 20K halide bulbs. The following pictures were taken at the Ushio booth. Brian filled me in on some very interesting information. For all of you that are using 20K bulbs you are impeding growth in your corals. Sure the colors are amazing but the spectra is to linear to provide what the coral needs for healthy growth. Plus you are wasting tons of energy in wasted light. The only reason Ushio even makes it is because of the demand. Actually you'd all be better off using 10K-14K with actinics to make the coral pop.
The following pics are taken at the Ushio booth. Brian is running the quantum meter.
The bulbs are all Ushio 70W halides. The light is 20" above the sensor.

Finally the spoils of the day
110 gallons of RedSea Coral Pro salt mix and
a submersible LED light from MarineLand.
Every attendee of the Banquet got the light. It's actually still a prototype but MarineLand gave them out in the cool triangular shaped MACNA2011 LE boxes.
You won't find much if any info on them as they won't be hitting the market until March 2012. This was the first public announcement of the project.

 Found out today if I had a few months head notice, Dad would have gone with me to MACNA. :( Didn't know about the exact date until early August. It would have been a 10r drive for me, so even a day or two would have been nice...maybe next summer (if I canmake it to Dallas/Ft. Worth? lol)...

Very cool to see all the new stuff coming out; wish I could have been there. Congrats on the new toys.

    Thanks Steve

The RS Coral Pro was a gift from their rep. No salt was for sale at the show and the 175 gallon buckets were actually empties. It's embarrassing but I've spent about 2 hours talking to him face to face in the last year and can't remember his name...ever...unless I read it on his badge.

Great thread. Thanks for taking the time to review and post up pictures for those of us not fortunate enough to be able to attend. I really appreciate it.
