Macro Algae dies, nuisance Algae thrives in display

Never could grow macro either, finally switched to an ATS and grows like a champ.

 

Hello all, sorry about the delayed response, I got my water tested by my LFS. He advised my nitrates were near 0 but my phosphates were a bit high but nothing crazy.

So I guess the phosphates are the issue. I have been seeing some red cyno on one of my rocks and the green hair is still taking off on the glass.

I have decided to get a gfo/media reactor, at first I was set on the two little fishees gfo reactor but since I may be moving to a smaller tank in my new place (most likey a 12 gallon rimless) I was looking into the CPR reactor which is much smaller.

Is the larger phosban just overkill on a 29 gallon tank and I dont think it will even fit on my 12 when i get it?

Also I was going to purchase some Blue Life Phosphate Rx 1oz to try and knock out some of the phosphate right away, any one have experiecne with this?
