I currently have cheato, mangroves, and ulva. I ordered a 9 watt refugium light from cadlights and will be here monday. i currently have a 20 watt desk lamp (halogen bulb) and i was wondering if the algae will survive till monday. They have been running under this light for about 3 days now and a little part of the cheato is starting to brown. Will it make it? If not, what should i do until the light gets here?

    thanks,
    Ryan

edit: i have a cadlight so the refugium section is really small. Thats why the light is so small in case any of you were thinking that through

If its a halogen bulb with a regular screw on attachment. I'd recommend going to home depot and buying a CFL floodlight at home depot (ones in the green packages are 2700k, good for growing macro algae), its only about 6 bucks and will hold you over till your new lighting comes in. I would say that the algae can survive until your new stuff comes in, but if you have doubts its cheap insurance :)

Its my understanding though that when chaeto begins to die it becomes white not brown, but I've never had the chaeto die on me.
