Macro algae

    My macro algae is starting to turn a little bit brown on the outside ends is that normal? and its like really really big!

    What type of algae is it? You need to prune your macro algae so there wont be so much die off when nutrients are low.
    It could also be getting burnt by the light or not getting enough light. Maybe post a pic I'm sure someone could help you out.

    Yea I went to go snap a pic! I will just cut some of it back its like gigantic... I'll post a picture :)

    You cant see too much of the brown but is just like a really big expanded blob with some brown on the edges. Should I just cut off some of the brown spots?

    Ok, if it's caulepra don't cut it or tear it, try removing whole pieces. I've read it releases toxins in the water if you cut it.

    Ok looks like chaeto. The brown looks like trapped sediment. Did you try shaking it off?

    Yea I did shake a bit of it off, and some stuff came off but its still a little brown haha

    Hmm, normally when my algae dies off it turns clear.
    The only time it turns brown when it grows to the top of the water and gets burned. Your's doesn't look like that though.
    Maybe try trimming it and see what happens.

    looks like chaeto to me
