    Thats if you dont trim them and they are growing in the wild. If you trim them they will stay small

    aren't mangroves just like other macro algae.

    No, mangroves are almost like trees.

    Mangroves are trees ;D ;)

    I've had my mangrove jungle (5 trees) for 3 years now. I keep them in their own tank that has 6" water and 24" of air. They're about 18" tall and I trim them to keep them at that height. Mine are red mangroves which can reach something like 30' in the wild. They can't be fully submerged and grow MUCH quicker in brackish as opposed to full strengh NSW. Its better to give them some substrate to grow into to help protect the micro roots, they'll give you some snorkle roots in return ;). They consume some nutrients quicker then normal reef inhabitants so you might need to step up dosing iron and molydum(sp?).
