macro aqua air intake

this might sound a bit stupid to some but i bought a macro aqua js-150l skimmer and on the top of the intake pipe there is a air intake. on the instruction it doesnt mention anything about it....

do i connect a ait pump to it?? i try it out it makes more bubbles in the chamber if i connect a air pump to it but should i? or just leave it be?

 

No you shouldn't have to hook an air pump to it. Obviously adding an air pump will create more bubbles in the chamber, but it's not the right way. There might be a small piece that fits on the end of the airline to quiet the sucking sound, but nothing else is necessary. Just keep the air line out of the water and your skimmer should start skimming after a few days break in. I have the coralife needle wheel that seems to be the same design as yours. Hope that helps. the js series is dirt cheap in my country, converting to us dollar its 69 for the js-150l...... the as series cost twice as much but i didnt see the point of it since i dont have a huge tank. thanks for the tip btw found the little silencer lol ;; lucky i havent thrown out the box yet.

 

heheheh and you forgot to say...thats 69USD including the pump!...the needle wheel series (AS MODEL)costs a lil bit more... i think for the 150gallon model my friend paid... about 700hkd...including pump...im assuming kevink is in the same country im in
