    i'm really into macros but i have a fairly new tank about 3-4 months... i was wondering what macros i could put in it now? its 8 gal with a clown and theres going to be a torch and some zoa's. i already branching red macro. any suggestions? oh i also have 2 hermits and an emmy crab

    You should be able to go with most anything that catches your eye. You will need to supplement if you get any calcareous algae though.

    what would be some examples of those? (calcareous)

    Halemeda type algaes are calcareous

    it means they use calcium, or absorb calcium
    hence if it grows rapidly you might need to start compensating for it
    but thats no different to if you have hard corals or clams

    Halemeda is apparently an excellent nitrate consumer

    i believe i have some phosphates because i have some hair algae but i dont have a refugium or sump any ideas of a certain macro?
