Made a huge Aquarium NONO!?

So i will be honest i didnt do as much research as i should have, so here is the problem i bought 2 anthias and i got home and found one dead. i am not sure if it was dead last night or this afternoon but the question is, do they always sleep under rocks/shelter and if so does that mean they are not compatible with an arrow crab. just dont want to wake up to find out it is the crab and that he killed them both........... thanks for any help

 

I don't think it's the crab. Is it possible one was sick when you got it?

 

Not the crab. At least I seriously doubt it would be. How long ago did you buy them?

 

Bought them on Monday they were very shy/timid the other is out and eating though, havent added anything in about 4 months only other things in the tank are 2 clowns an arrow crab and a damsel

 

was one a male and one a female? the males are very aggressive to the females and it is recommended to keep 3 females to 1 male so that he splits up the aggression between the 3. If it is concentrated on just 1 its very likely the male will kill it.

 

well that may explain it as i bought a male and female, so if and when i get more i need to get at least 3 females? if i get any other males are they that aggressive to each other also or just the females?

 

nonono 1 male. 3 females. and you will have to add all 3 at the same time. so yea that would explain it, it is your male thats still alive right? haha

 

That would not have killed it that quick.

 

It could be so many things with a new fish. Collection method, transportation method, acclimation method, disease, etc etc etc... Anthias are delicate fish to start with.
