i just purchased a used reeflo dart pump for 100 bucks im currently running a mag 24 on my 270 it was brand new about 2 months ago..

well i checked on the killowatt meter and its only pulling about 181 watts i think the reeflo is still going to pull around 140ish..

    were paying .12 a killowatt..

looks like i would save about 4 dollars a month if i switch over...

not sure if its worth it..

im also running a hurricone cat 3 and love it... however im using a mag 3 pump to feed so i guess with the the reeflo i could use part of that flow to feed the skimmer ...

even if i take that saving off its only like 3 dollars a month..

i was trying to save money but for me to drill the tank would take like 30 dollars in material between new piping and etc..... so i guess in six months i would save lol

I switched from a Mag 24 to a Dart. I believe that the Dart is rated for 1-1/2" return pipe. If you are running smaller than that with the Mag, you could be restricting the flow, so your flow per dollar assumption may be off.

Also factor in external vs internal, and noise.

I like Mag pumps, but IME, the Dart is a much better and quieter pump.

yeah i was thinking the same thing as far as noise im using 1" plywood on my stand and its amazing at how much it absorbs the sound.. when i open my stand doors you can hear it .. but when thier closed its pretty quiet to be honest.
