Just bought a Mag 5 seems to rattle, I hope that quits. Had a eheim but it wasn't big enough, but it was quiet. I did need more flow though. Does anyone have one of these, and if so does this quit after it breaks in a little? Any and all will be appreciated, good reefing to ya!!

Yeah.... Mags are just noisier Eheims. You can check the rings that hold the impeller for wear. New ones may help, but it will always be noisier than your Eheim.

Try placing a piece of rubber mouse pad under the pump. This may help keep the vibrations down a little.8)

Did you buy a new or used? A rattle noise sounds like a broken ceramic shaft on the impeller. I have two Mag 7s that are running and I don't have a rattle noise. You may want to take off the 4 screws on the front and just make sure.

Also does the noise go away if you hold it?

It is new, I did take it apart everything looks okay. I'm wondering if it's just vibration from the sump floor. Here's a video good thing it's for listening, lol no lights.

They make special noise suppression pads but Vinny's mouse pad idea works just as well. (The thick ones made of neoprene)
