I have three of these pumps. One on my 90gal running my skimmer, second one runs my 29gal frag/QT tank, and the third is still in the box for a backup. Sound like the ceramic shaft let go. I replaced the one on my skimmer when I bought it used almost 2 years ago.

    Dr Foster's Policy:
    Warranty
Return of electrical equipment to Foster & Smith Aquatics for exchange or refund is limited to 60 days from the date of purchase. Beyond 60 days, electrical equipment is covered by the manufacturer's warranty and should be returned directly to Danner Manufacturing.

The impeller is about 15.00 and most local pet stores do carry that impeller, since that pump is used in pond applications. I would pickup a new cover as well, since that comes with a new gasket O-ring and the cover could have some wear as well..

I'm sure they have a warranty, for how long not sure. You would have to contact Danner on that. I'm just saying if you can't be down a pump, I would fix it now and deal with the warranty BS later. Just depends how important it is to you.

I just sent one in for warranty. Thought it was just the impeller at first but it looked worn in the casing where the loose impeller had been spinning so I sent it in.

As long as you have your original receipt they will warranty it. They will not without it, however.

Bottom line... If it's just the impeller might as well buy one for 15.00 and have your pump running again same day. OR you could spend 15.00 (actual cost since it's so heavy) on shipping and a few weeks to a month to get your pump back. I didn't have time to wait so I bought a new pump an sent the old one for warranty and will keep it as a backup whenever I get it back.

Hahha that's odd... I googled the danner website then went to the "contact us" section.. I didn't try calling them. There was a email address on that page. It said it was sales or something but I emailed them anyways and they forwarded it to the warranty dept. Here is part of the email with directions..

(Put copy of the receipt in the box with your name address and telephone number and a brief description of the problem. We will repair or replace.
Pls send the pump back to us at:
    Danner Mfg.
    Retail Warranty dept.
    160 Oval Drive-
    Islandia, NY 11749
The cord should not be cut or altered in anyway.
We suggest you send UPS or Fed Ex ground
