My skimmer pump (mag 7) has been rattling and is getting worse by the day.

I ordered, and just received, a replacement impeller assembly.

Anyone here familiar with replacing the old one?

Is there some "trick" to removing the old impeller & shaft assembly after removing the cover plate so new one can go in?

Not trick just pull out the 5 or so bottom housing screws and then the housing . Unless you had it to over heat and the plastic warped and the shaft magnet is jammed up inside it should just slide on out. hen you put it back together use some Vaseline on the new chevron seal. just smear the seal groove and set the seal .

Too simple! (why do I expect everything to be so complicated  )

Only took couple of minutes to disconnect pump, pull off coverplate, old impeller slipped right out, replaced with new one.

    NO NOISE! ;D

Have you had a look at it? It might just need to be cleaned.

Look best thing any of y'all can do is order yourself a new spare impeller and hang it near the pump.. They always go out on a Sunday night late or a Holiday X mas and the 4th are my breakdown days LOL.. When you hear the clicking there is wobble in the shaft bushing.. also may want to always keep a housing plate on hand also.. Especially if its the primary pump.. Its just free advice take it for what its worth.. :) I have total rebuild kits for every pump I depend on on line everyday ..Impellers seals housing and my main pump I have a spare pump to replace it out with just in-case..
