    I'm not sure on this, Mati L. I'm trying to make the same decision...either a mag 5 or a mag 7 on my 29g. haha

    Maybe you should pick the 9.5 so I can buy a used mag 7. ::) lol.

    lol. The mag 5 is $70 new. Actually, FS Aquatics has the mag 7 for $75. haha

    You are better off going with a larger pump and reduce with a ball valve if needed, after the pump of course. Instead of finding out the hard way that a pump is too small, especially when some of your return is going to your DT and the rest is going into your refuge.

    My pump has a head pressure of 27' and all my bends were done with Spa-flex aka flexible PVC. Also I ran 1" from my pump and only reduced a 3' section to 3/4 to my DT. Keep in mind my equipment is one floor below my DT. I have my ball valve open at 1 o'clock, any more and I'll have rapids. At $300.00 per pump I made sure I got more than what I needed.

    So I can take a pump with 1/2" return and up it to a 3/4" and like-wise?
