    Thanks Diver!

Is there a prefilter that goes on the intake? I am planning my sump and need to know how much room this pump is going to take up.

Is this the pump I need? I have a 600 GPH overflow and the top of my tank is about 4 feet high.

It should work just fine. My overflow is also 600gph and I am using a Quiet One 3000 pump rated at 780gph and it works well. I have also used a Rio hyperflow 12 at 850gph but my wife complained about the low humm it made hence the quiet one pump. My overflow easily handled the 850gph. I'm going to upgrade to a Quiet one 4000 at 1050gph to get a little more flow. They use only 50watts and are rated to 10 or 12 feet head pressure.

Are there any other pumps anyone would like to recomend? Does anyone else have anything to say about either the Mag 7 or the Quiet One 3000? Any reason I should choose one over the other?

    Thanks,
    Rick

A word of caution: mag pumps make noise. But besides that Imo they are great pumps

Mags are proven and reliable but if noise is an issue then I would consider the Quiet One 3000-4000. I cant speak on their reliability because I've only had mine for 6 months though, but they are nearly silent and I have to stick my head inside my tank cabinet to tell if its running. I also read that Ehiem pumps are supposed to be very good.
