I have been running my mag 9 for a few months now, and just pulled off the foam pre filter for cleaning and noticed the stainless screws on the pump look to be rusting.

Is this a problem? Rust in the aquarium water?

As these pumps are used extensively I was a little surprised to see metal screws when I first got it. But they are so popular I guessed it was all good. Maybe I missed something.
    TIA.

I have the same mag and have not found my screws to be rusting..at least not yet!!!
Did you try contacting the Mag company personally to let them know and get their suggestion?

I run a mag drives on my 75 & 220 and both have rust on the screws. I placed a small drop of f.tank silicone on the heads of the screws. so the water doesn't come in direct contact and its easy to get off when I take the pump apart to clean the propeller.
