MAG-FLOAT + Sand = Scratched glass ????

    Yup, I use a metal scaper.... I wouldn't use the mag float on a glass tank ever. I use the kent scraper with all the different lengths of handles for my different tanks. Most of my tanks have scorpion fish in them and I don't want to stick my hand in there too often.

    I love cleaning my glass tanks.... I hate cleaning the acrylic.

    Yeah, when you are cleaning it..dont like attach it close to the sand bed..or it will stir it up a bit when it grips through the glass.

    Never had a problem with mag float and sand. Just go slow near the sand and use a razor blade scraper at and under the sand line.

    The trick with a mag float is when you accidentally dip into the sand,stop right there and release the magnet to float to the top so you can clean the sand off without scratching the glass or getting your hands wet.Hence-mag-Float

    I have sand and i use my magfloat...no problems or scratched glass. I just go slow when im close to the sand :eek:)

    going slow and being careful is a given,but when working in tight spots or with rounded glass corners like my tank,it happens sometimes,and i don't have any scratches either :cheesy:

    Yeah I just didn't think of it till it was to late.... :furious2: I will take it slow when I'm by the bottom from now on... this is my first salt water tank "FRESH2SALT" I'm learning thank god it happen to this tank and not the 90 gallon i hope to have soon.. ;)

    We've all done it,thats how i learned to use the floating part myself,thankfully it was on an older tank that allready had several scratches.
