Magnesium really low!

    I'm with Steve on this 550 sounds impossibly low.
    Do you do regular water changes?
    In the average tank Mag usage is only like 1ppm per day, water changes usually keep it in the proper range or close to it.

    Its my test kit I just tested a fresh bach of salt water and got the same results. thanks again for all your help guess I am ordering another kit today

    what test kit is it?
    is there any possibility you are reading the results wrong?

    Oh crap your right I am using Red Sea and I normally use saliferts where your left over in the syringe is what you use on the chart and Red Sea your supposed to look at what you used not whats left to read the chart so that makes my water about 1500ppm Well I now have an extra already order another one. Now I feel stupid but at least you saved me from throwing away a perfectly fine test kit THANKS AGAIN
