I'm buying a Magnesium test kit today off the net. Finally. Getting the Red Sea.

I figured at the same time i should buy some Magnesium supplement. But I don't know what a good one is.

    Suggestion?

Hello, I suppose Magnesium is Magnesium but the one I use, Kent Marine Tech M is ionically balanced and it keeps levels where you want them once you determine a dosing schedule suitable for your tank.

I have found the most cost effective supplements, including magnesium, is from bulkreefsupply.com. You can buy the salt unmixed and easily mix it yourself. Very cheap and you get a lot.

For my first experience at working with Ma in my tank, I think I'll go with the Kent Marine Tech M. The bulk (and the website) are both pretty awesome and I bet before long I'll switch! I've bookmarked the site ;)

Before I add Kent Marine Tech M to my cart, I want to run the contents by y'all.

    Contents:
Deionized water containing the following elements (as ions): magnesium, chlorine, sulfur, calcium, potassium, bromine, strontium, boron, fluorine, lithium, rubidium, iodine, iron, molybdenum, zinc, nickel, copper, manganese, vanadium, cesium, cobalt, tungsten, selenium, and chromium.

So with so many folks suggesting it, I'd assume that's fine. What's making me nervous about it is I've read how copper can be pretty bad - I didn't think it was needed/wanted in any concentration?

I don't really know about most of the others listed in the contents either. Like adding chlorine? And Calcium too? (it's here I see a benefit to bulk).

These contents are all fine though? You folks agree?

Im not a chemist, but I dont think that Kent Marine is going to include an element that will sabatoge(sp) your tank. They would be shooting themselves in the foot. Like Unclejed said; " Kent Marine Tech M is ionically balanced and it keeps levels where you want them once you determine a dosing schedule suitable for your tank." Luna
